You can never have too many questions when it comes to your wedding day or special event at the Château and we’re here to help!

Here are some answers to the most common queries we’ve had from the many couples and groups we’ve welcomed to the Estate.

What does the venue rental price include?

Booking a wedding or event at Château de Vaudézert includes exclusive access to the Estate. The Estate includes the accommodation and living areas in the West Wing and ground floor events hall with its catering kitchen, snooker room and bar. It also includes the separate Gatehouse with its additional accommodation. You will also have access to all the grounds, gardens, terraces, swimming pool and hot tubs. We can comfortably sleep up to 19 guests.
 
We can provide children’s cots and mattresses in the rooms at no extra cost and several of the rooms are perfect for families.
 
The rental price excludes catering and other services. We can provide a continental breakfast for staying guests for 10 euros per person. 
 
 

Will I need to hire tables and chairs?

We have tables, chairs and tableware available to hire for up to 50 guests. Please see our Wedding Packages page for more details. 
 
For larger events, you can hire tables and chairs as well as other furniture and marquees from a range of available suppliers. We can provide suggestions and support to help you find the right rental company to suit your style and budget.
We also have a list of recommended suppliers to help you organise other elements of your big day.
 
 

How many guests can I invite to my wedding?

Our maximum capacity is for 300 guests – for more than 60 guests, marquee hire is recommended as your wedding breakfast will need to take place in the grounds.
We can cater for up to 60 seated guests in our beautiful events hall which has its own catering kitchen and facilities. 
Up to 100 guests can use the events hall for a cocktail party (standing), for a seated ceremony or for dancing in the evening.
 

What should I do in the event of rain?

We are very lucky to have many beautiful sunny days here in Normandy, however the weather is one thing we can never guarantee, so we always recommend you have a Plan B for your wedding day just in case. For over 60 guests, a marquee or stretch tent is advised. There are a wide range of styles to choose from to suit your budget and will provide rain cover and share if needed. This can be set up on the back lawn behind the Château or in the gardens at the front depending on your wishes. For smaller weddings and events, you can use the inside spaces for your ceremony and reception if you prefer. 
 

Are there other places nearby where my guests can stay?

We can host up to 19 guests on site, and we’re lucky enough to have lots of hotels and excellent Airbnb accommodation nearby. There are numerous Airbnbs and guesthouses in the village of Juvigny-Val-d’Andaine, as well as a couple of lovely hotels just a few minutes away. In addition, we are located just ten minutes from the famous spa town of Bagnoles de l’Orne where there are dozens of accommodation options from stylish resort hotels to glamping and camping sites. All your guests can therefore be easily catered for in the surrounding area and we can help to arrange taxi transfers for you and your guests as needed.
 

Is there a cut-off time for music?

We are very secluded which means we are excellently placed for evening celebrations. However, DJs and bands should finish playing by 1am unless previously agreed with the owners. The events hall is the perfect place for dancing in the evening and we can recommend lots of bands, musicians and DJs to help make your wedding or event a true success. 

 

Can I bring my own drinks?

Yes. Once again, we pride ourselves on our flexibility and our event rental price includes exclusive hire of the venue, meaning that it is yours to enjoy for the duration of your stay. Therefore there are no limits to bringing alcohol on site (within reason!), so guests can provide their own drinks for weddings and events. We also do not charge corkage. We can recommend some excellent vineyards to supply wine for your special occasion if you would like. Alternatively, as a venue, we can put a drinks package together for you to include wine, Prosecco, Champagne, beers, ales and ciders. Please get in touch for more information on this. Another option is to choose a catering company or drinks truck who can provide soft and alcoholic drinks for you.
 

Do you offer catering?

As a venue, we offer excellent flexibility. You can use the Château as a dry hire venue as the estate can be used as you wish and therefore there are few on catering. This means you can choose your own caterers or we can help recommend suppliers who would best suit your requirements. If you require support organising your catering, then please do not hesitate to get in touch. All caterers must be insured and have been approved by the venue. You should have a separate contract between yourself and the catering company (and any other suppliers) which you choose for your event.

Do I need a wedding planner or coordinator?

We strongly recommend using a wedding planner for your special day to ensure that everything runs perfectly, both in the planning stages and on the day. However, it is not necessary to have a planner if you are happy to organise your suppliers yourself. Nonetheless, it is compulsory to have a designated wedding/event coordinator on the day of the celebration. This is to ensure that your event comes together smoothly, to minimise stress for yourselves and to act as a point of contact between the venue, suppliers and yourselves on the day. Please note, that the owners and managers of the Château are not wedding planners but will provide support, recommendations and advice throughout the planning process and this is included in the rental fee.
